“I would unhesitatingly recommend Dr Giorcelli as a presenter or workshop leader for staff conferences, professional development days or in any other context where serious educational thinking based solidly in research evidence is required. Dr Giorcelli has contributed materially to the effectiveness of the teaching and learning programme at Barker College from year 3 to year 12 in the past three years in ways that have changed the way we think about our work and do it”.

"For many years, Prof Giorcelli and I have been close
colleagues in
teaching , clinical work , policy and practical resource development,
research and community advocacy . Internationally, we have presented
lectures, convened conferences and advocated separately and together for
similar audiences, settings and subjects. Particularly, we jointly present
a
program on language. learning and behaviour problems including autism,
learning disability and ADHD . In various countries this has been acclaimed
as practical, modern, robust and inspiring. Loretta's skills, knowledge and
teaching are remarkable and, in all her work, her modelling and
implementing
collaboration is fresh and inspiring. Her advocacy for children with
disability and instruction towards their fulfilment are remarkable . She is
a star!"

"Dr. Loretta Giorcelli was the "Educator in
Residence" at our College in 2001. During the weeklong program, she
addressed staff, students and parents. Topics covered with the staff
include "Differentiated Curriculum and Assessment"; "
Metacognition/Active Learning"; "Thinking Skills"; and
"Co-teaching". A teachers' 'Twilight Seminar' was offered
focusing on "Improving the Educational Outcomes for All
Students". The topic addressed at the parent evening was "The
Parent's Role in Supporting Children's Learning". The feedback from all
of these sessions was extraordinary. Staff and parents felt inspired,
motivated and enthusiastic. The response was that they had learnt practical
and effective strategies, which they felt competent and eager to implement.
The student sessions included boys from year 7 to year 12. Dr. Giorcelli
was able to gear each presentation to the appropriate year level and held
each group transfixed for the duration of the session. She demonstrated a
genuine understanding of their needs and concerns. The boys were always
enthusiastic to attend any sessions, which were available to them.
The general feedback from the whole school community was that it was the
most effective, professional and worthwhile consultancy in the history of
the College".

If you can only invite one speaker to your area to talk
about AD/HD, then we
strongly recommend Prof. Giorcelli. As soon as I heard her speak the
first time I made up my mind that our next speaker would have to be her.
Clear,
charismatic, knowledgeable, witty and willing to help in any way she
can, makes her a hard act to follow, but her friendliness and understanding
with parents endears her to both professionals and lay people alike. Some
of the comments our Group received after our Seminar in October 2002,
were 'She's the best speaker I have heard and believe me, I've heard a good
number'. Guests who were only planning on staying for the opening, stayed
until the Coffee Break.
Keep it up Loretta and our heartfelt thanks.
